South Dakota and Shearing Class!

In Dec. I took a machine shearing class in Brookings, SD. I also took a class in Sep. in Augusta, WI from David Kier. Both classes were really good and I learned a lot!

Here, I am doing a blade shearing demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6ZF5TvwXeI

I left a day early for South Dakota and had a day for tourist stuff. Enjoy!

Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum, DeSmet:

Brewster school

DeSmet town school (It had been converted into a house and then back to the school, that is what the wall paper is.) These were the only inside pictures I was allowed to take.

The surveyor's house

Ma and Pa's town house. They added on to the original house. The inside was very nice.

Pa's grave. His is the only original gravestone. Note the mason sign. I had not realized he was in the masons.
All that is left of Silver Lake, a marshy low spot that has water in the winter, but is dry in the summer.

A real lake, I don't know what it's name is, just so one has a idea of what Silver Lake may have looked like.

 The prairie

The AG Heritage Museum, Brookings:

 An old claim shanty

Lots of old tractors

An old wood stove chick brooder

A sheep tread mill for belt powered washing machines, butter churners, etc.
